In all new Greenfield developments from January 1 2011 developers are required to provide a pit and pipe network compliant with NBN standards, and for multi dwelling and highrise development this needs to extend to the provision of equipment rooms, cable ways and comms risers to facilitate the delivery of Advanced Broadband Network services to each and every dwelling.

Typically in clustered multi-dwelling unit developments, retirement villages or highrise or multi high rise developments it is the developers responsibility to provide the telecommunications infrastructure beyond the MDF plus the complete TV and PayTV distribution networks.

Today OPENetworks can deliver an NBN compliant Advanced Broadband Network with extended TV and PayTV integrated services. This can be provided cost neutrally, that is at approximately the same costs as traditional copper telephone broadband and multi coax TV and PayTV distribution networks with the added benefit of delivery of true high speed broadband services.

Our Advanced Network Solution delivers up to 1000Mbps today, exceeding the Governments requirement for new premises to be provided with 100Mbps.

OPENetworks can assist developers with services which will ensure compliance:

  1. Pit, pipe and access network design and specification - We can deliver a design service including the consulting and coordination with other services for the external pit and pipe distribution network and the internal building space and access requirements
  2. Access network audit and compliance review - If you are utilising another consultant such as a building services consultant OPENetworks can provide an audit of the design and specification to ensure compliance with the NBN and national standards that are required to be met.
  3. Backhaul and Interconnect Design and Provisioning – Connecting your development back into the nearest capital city Point of Interconnect is fundamental to allow a choice to retail service providers to deliver services to your residents and occupants. OPENetworks has national agreements with multiple wholesale backhaul providers and will design and provision the required interconnect.
  4. Fibre distribution network design and build – OPENetworks will design the fibre backbone network and it is high desirable that we also install and commission the passive and active network and this will be coordinated with the head contractor/builder and other trade services. Other provisioning options can be considered in consultation with the design and project management team and OPENetworks will work closely with your team. This single fibre network will deliver both free to air and pay TV services and is capable of supporting other building and community services.
  5. Dwelling connection management services- There are key standards that other contractors undertaking internal communications cabling need to comply with and OPENetworks will work with the Developer to ensure that NBN and OPENetworks standards are met and compliance can be granted to allow our active network equipment to be installed ready prior to settlement of dwelling.
  6. Network operations and maintenance –

Optional services –

  1. Dwelling cabling design -
  2. Other services integration
