| Fibre to the home is the next generation of telecommunications network services. This technology has been progressively installed in selected developments in Australia for the past 8 years and now is being mandated for deployment in all new Greenfield developments in Australia form July 2010. Fibre optic networks deliver the capabilities to deliver multiple services for voice, data and video over a single fibre direct into each home. The fibre network delivers true high speed broadband services. The network will deliver 100Mbps and will deliver higher speeds in the near future. This is 10 to 20 times faster than copper based DSL broadband services. One of the fundamental differences in the delivery of network services to homes is that OPENetworks only delivers and manages the network and allows retail carriers, service providers ,ISP and content service providers all to have equal access to deliver the next generation of retail services to end users. |
